Machu Picchu Tour

Machu Picchu is the both and bests the last known of the Incas. It is not mentioned In any of the chronicles of the Spanish conquistadors and archaeologists to day can do more than speculate on its function. The local quechua farmers in the area knew of Machu Picchu for centuries, but it was not until an 11 year-old boy led the American historian Hiram Bingham (who was in search of Vilcabamba) to the site on July 24, 1911, that the rest of the world became aware of its existence. At that time the site was covered in think vegetation, and Bingham and his team returned in 1912 and 1915 to clear the growth. Over the years, much work has been done on excavating and studding the site and Bingham showed the world machupicchu citadel. Despite these affords, many unanswered question remain.

Day 1: Cusco - Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes

Early morning pick up you from your hotel for your transfer by bus to Ollantaytambo station, where you will board the train bound for the Andean village of Aguas Calientes, after approximately 4 hours. On arrival at Aguas Calientes, we will transfer you to the hotel. After the lunch, you will have the rest of the afternoon free to hike to the Mandor Waterfall, visit the orchid garden in Machu Picchu Pueblo grounds or enjoy on the local hotsprings. Dinner.

Day 2: Aguas - Calientes Machu Picchu - Cusco

After your breakfast at the morning a full day guided tour of Machu Picchu, the most spectacular ancient city in the world free time to enjoy this unforgettable site, returning to Cusco aboard the afternoon train.
