Build atop a mountain, high in the Andes, the lost city Choquequirao (cradle of gold) is comparable only to Machu Picchu (Old Mountain) in its beauty, grandeur and architectural accomplishment Choquequirao (Cradle of Gold), is located almost 3050m. Marvel at the ancient stone walls that protect the two-leveled palaces and temples. The systems of fountains, canals and aqueducts that fed the farming terraces are still intact. Miles away from the rest of the tourists, this is truly a spectacular hike. Supported by a fantastic crew of guides, muleteers and cooks, hike through the page of history as you walk towards this ancient empire.


Early departure from Cusco to Cachora for our breakfast we will meet with our muleteers to arrange all the equipment on the mules and horses and then you will start the trek with a 2 hours hike to Capuliyoc 2910m. from here, you will have your first beautiful view of the Apurimac Valley (God talker) stretching below as well as the snow capped mountain Padriyoc and Wayna Cachora. Descend towards Coca Masana 2335m. where the climate becomes noticeably warmer and the flora and fauna begin to change. Finally we will arrive at Playa Rosalina at 1540m. overnight camp.
After an early breakfast to we will climb a steep trail, a 5 hours hike to Rayanpata beside the Chunchullymayu River where we will take our lunch and a good rest. Along the way you will observe many orchids and wild flowers as well as many types of birds from Rayanpata to Choquequirao (cradle of Gold) 3035m. there is a two hours hike. Arriving at the archaeological site of Choquequirao (cradle of gold) in time to enjoy the sunset and maybe an opportunity to see a Condor flying, the campsite overnight.

After the breakfast, today we will dedicate to exploring the incredible archaeological site Choquequirao (cradle of gold), known as the other Machu Picchu (Old Mountain) where the last Inca Tupac Amaru, was raised among Inca priestesses. The guide will explain the history and importance of the site. After you will have free time to visit the many sectors of the complex. Late in the afternoon start the return trek and camp in Rayanpata.
After the breakfast, we will continue our return trek with a descended towards at the Apurimac River (God talker) where we will stop and have the lunch. In the afternoon a climb for approximate 4 hours to the final campsite at Coca Masana.

This is the last day of trekking. You will appreciate the canyon that forms the Apurimac River (God talker) then we will take a trail that crosses the throat of the canyon, with an impressive view of Waynaqalli towards the canyon, considered the most spectacular in South America. Finally we will be in Cachora and return to Cusco in our private bus.
