In view of the new restrictions and limits imposed to the classic inca road to Machu Picchu, during the last years, new alternatives and a new path has been found to arrive to Machu Picchu, this is one of these new options, in which you will experiment arrive Inca jungle from snow covered mountains, an exiting experience.
We begin in Mollepata, above the Apurimac River, and cross the mountains to Machu Picchu, above the Urubamba River. We pass under the shadow of Salkantay, the Apu of the range, to which the Incas offered up all the fruits of their labours.
At 9:00 AM we drive to Mollepata to begin the journey. By car, we pass the towns of the Anta Plains (Izcuchaca, Zurite, Ancahuasi) and then enter the Limatambo valley, where we can appreciate the ruins of Tarawasi. In Mollepata we begin the hike, and later we will camp in Markokasa.

From Choquekiclla we can see Salkantay Humantay, at whose feet we camp at the height of about 4000 masl.
Today we pass close under Salkantay, then descend to the Inca Cana from where we can see lovely geography below us.
We begin the hike towards Paucarcancha, down the Cusichaca valley to Llulluchapampa, also known as Incaracay.
We begin the ascent to the high pass on the Inca trail, called Warmiwañuska at 4,200 masl, and then drop into Pakaymayu and camp in Sayacmarka.
We drop into the high jungle and see some lovely new trees and animals, along with the stunning series of palaces that make up the Inca Trail.
We reach Machu Picchu, one of the world's greatest archaeological treasures.
