Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu Trek - Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Ollantaytambo - KM. 104 - Machu Picchu

We will pick up you from your hotel to Ollantaytambo from here we will take the train to the Km. 104. We will commence our hike by crossing a hanging bridge over the Urubamba (Vilcanuta) River to approach the small but interesting Inca archaeological complex of Chachabamba ruins. After a brief visit of this site we will begin a four hours ascent to the ruins of Wiñay Wayna 2700m. an important Inca spiritual side, and one of the finest of all Inca ruins. At this point the trail joins with the main Inca Trail. From here we will be walking on Inca trail. The Inca trail cuts across the ridge above Machu Picchu to finally reach Intipunku or gate of the Sun. from here the trail winds downhill (40 minutes) into the lost citadel of Machu Picchu at 2450m. We will take a bus to Aguas Calientes hostel accommodation, and then we will visit to the thermal baths.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Private guided tour of Machu Picchu, the most spectacular ancient city in the world. Built by the Inca Pachacuteq, this fabulous city has houses, temples warehouses, a large central square, all connected by narrow roads and steps, and is surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side which were used for agriculture. After the tour approximately two hours, free time to enjoy this magical and spiritual wonder. Return to Cusco transfer to hotel.
