This is the most amazing and exciting trip to Machu Picchu biking and hiking. This is a full adventure experience among the mountains, valleys, rivers and crossing smalls villages, coca and coffee plantations, and lots of varied native fruits. You will be walking on the old real inka trail which connects to the lost city of the Incas. We will take also a relaxing bath in the hot springs. This trip definitely is considered a real adventure route to Machu Picchu where we will observe the daily living of Andean and local people. Doing this trip you can contribute with local people, buying some fruits, local products and food, in the local stores and restaurants and using their family hostels. • Inka jungle Day 1: Cusco - Abra Malaga - Huamanmarka - Santa MariaEarly morning (approx. 7:30 a.m.) you will be picked up at your hotel. We will be passing through the towns of Chinchero, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo which are all part of the Sacred Valley. As we arrive at Abra Malaga (4316 m.) we can appreciate the majestic snowcapped Huacay Willca (Verona) Mountains, where we will begin our cycling adventure as we descend through different ecological zones including high puna area, the tall knotty woods which include a wide variety of flora and fauna. Taking a short break at the archaeological remains Huaman Marq'a before reaching the town of Santa Maria (1200 m. where we will stay overnight, have dinner and breakfast.
• Inka jungle Day 02: Santa Maria - Qellomayo - Baths - Santa TeresaAfter breakfast we will drive about 15 minutes to the town of Santa Rosa where we start our walk along the Inka path (Qapaqñan) viewing a wide variety of birds including parrots, Calibri’s and eagles. We will observe crops including cassava, and the coca plant (sacred leaf of the Incas), coffee, banana, orange, and mango trees. We will have a brief rest in the village of Pispitayuc where you can relax in the hammocks and enjoy the mischief of the monkey and Capise. As we restart our walk through the beautiful landscapes of the Cordillera Vilcabamba. We have lunch in the village of Qellomayo, then on to Cocalmayo to relax in the natural hot springs. We will finish our day in the town of Santa Teresa where we will stay for the night, have our dinner and breakfast.
• Inka jungle Day 03: Santa Teresa - Hidroelectrica - Aguas CalientesFollowing the path taken by the firsts expeditionary, we will walk around 2 hours, and we’ll have the chance to see water falls. Likewise we will see coffee and coca plantations, arriving to the Hydroelectric ( 1,900 m.a.s.l. or 6,270 fts.) where we will have lunch, after that, we will continue walking along the Train track from Hydroelectric to Aguas Calientes town, in the Afternoon transfer to our Hotel. Free afternoon. We’ll get together in the night for dinner and planning the climbing up to Machupicchu for the next day.
• Inka Jungle Day 04: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Ollantaytambo - CuscoVery early (5:00am) we will take our breakfast and then we will start the hike to the citadel of Machu Picchu. In the check point we will reserve a space in order to ascend the mountain Huaynapicchu, which has only one limit (400 people a day maximum). After your ticket has been purchased we will start the tour of the city about three hours. Next in your free time you will climb the mountain Huaynapicchu and tour different sites recommended by our guide, such as Inti Punku, Machu Picchu Mountains, Inca Bridge. Finally, return by train to the town of Ollantaytambo, and then take a bus to return to Cusco.
