At 7:00 AM we drive to Mollepata to begin the journey. we will pass the towns of the Anta Plains (Izcuchaca, Zurite, Ancahuasi) and then enter the Limatambo valley, where we can appreciate the ruins of Tarawasi. In Soraypampa we begin the hike, and later we will camp in Salkantaypampa.

Today we pass close under Salkantay, and then descend to the Inca Canal from where we can see lovely geography below us.

We begin the hike towards Paucarcancha, down the Cusichaca valley to Llulluchapampa, also known as Incaracay.

We begin the ascent to the high pass on the Inca trail, called Warmiwañuska at 4,200 masl, and then drop into Pakaymayu and camp in Sayacmarka.

We drop into the high jungle and see some lovely trees and animals, along with the stunning series of palaces that make up the Inca Trail.

Early morning wake up at 4:30a.m. for breakfast and to begin the trek to be first at the archaeological side of Machu Picchu for the sunrise. We will descend rapidly from cloud forest into high inka jungle habitat orchids and hummingbirds are commonly seen along this spectacular section of the trail high above the river. We will arrive at Intipunku (Sun Gate) to observe the sunrise over Machu Picchu from an elevated vantage point. We continue down to the royal road and at last the Lost City of the Incas. A guided tour of the marvelous citadel, after the guided tour you will have your free time then we will take the train back to Cusco.
