GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES THAT WILL BE IMPLEMENT CHANGES IN INCOME TO THE CIUDADELA
OF MACHU PICCHU AS OF JANUARY 1, 2019
A new model of tourism management will be in force in Machu Picchu starting in 2019, opening more access routes, circuits, different rates for schedules, new incomes by schedules, permanence among other measures.
From next year 2019, there will be new entry times to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, with the reservation of new circuits, access routes, scheduled times to begin visits that will last a maximum of 4 hours.
The current two shifts will increase to three in the following hours 06:00 am to 09:00 am, 09:00 am. At 12:00 am and finally from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. And each of these schedules will have an income of 600 people every hour for a period of 4 hours.
This number of income established will improve the of tourst experience by keeping a reasonable number of people in Machu Picchu no more than 2500 people simultaneously, in the same way it will be mandatory that tourists enter accompanied by an official guide of tourism and groups of 20 people maximum.
It was also established that by 2020 the prices of the entrance tickets to Machu Picchu will be modified, which provides a differentiated rate for each schedule in order to encourage visits in the afternoon.
1.- In the first schedule that has higher demand will increase 20% to the current cost.
2.- In the second schedule, the entrance cost will be maintained at the current price.
3.- In the third schedule a discount of 20% will be made, encouraging with this the entrance of the visitors in the afternoon.
To improve the tourism services from Cusco to Machu Picchu, the government will have greater control and formalization of tourism companies and a visitor center will be set up to diversify, monitor, manage tourist flows to the Machu Picchu citadel as it receives more than one million visitors per year.
Given these changes, Inkas Destination suggests our clients make their reservations two or more months in advance, of the different tours that arrive at Machu Picchu, especially if our clients are thinking of entering in the first shift or seeing the sunrise in the citadel of Machu Picchu since with these new regulations spaces will be exhausted in advance.
