Day 1: Lima
Arrival in Lima, a warm welcome from our team & transfer to your hotel.
Day 2: Lima
After breakfast, we will have an informative talk about Lima. Then we will begin the guided visit at the Cathedral and continue on to the Main Square and the Catacombs of San Francisco. We will finish the tour with lunch and then return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.
Day 3: Lima – Cusco
Flight to Cusco. We will have a guided visit of the former Inca capital, also known as the “Navel of the World.” Our explorations today will take us to the Inca fortresses and temples of Sacsayhuaman, Tambomachay, Qenqo and the Qoricancha (the former Temple of the Sun, now the Santo Domingo monastery). This evening, there will be dinner and a traditional dance show. You’ll spend the night in a chosen hotel.
Day 4:Cusco – Sacred Valley – Aguas Calientes
We will begin the day with a tour to the Sacred Valley, including the Inca ruins at Ollantaytambo and Pisac, plus the handcraft market there. We’ll have lunch in Urubamba, then take the train to Aguas Calientes. Dinner and overnight accommodation.
Day 5: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
After an early breakfast, we’ll begin our 2.5 hour guided Machu Picchu tour. You’ll then have free time to explore around the citadel at your leisure. We will return to Cusco in the afternoon and check into the hotel of your choice.
Day 6: Cusco – Lima
We return to Lima today. After the flight and hotel check in, you’ll have the day free.
Day 7 Lima – Huaraz
Transfer to Huaraz by private bus along the Pan Americana Central highway, on average a four-hour journey. We will continue our journey after breakfast, passing incomparably beautiful mountains, before arriving in Huaraz, the gateway to the Cordillera Blanca.
Day 8 – Llanganuco – Huaraz
Today, we’ll take in sweeping sights of the snowcapped mountains along the Llanganuco Valley, ultimately arriving at the two 3,850m-high lakes there. We will have a breathtaking view of the Cordillera Blanca (White Range) mountains, the biggest network of mountains and tropical glaciers in Peru.
Dia 9 Huaraz – Chavin de Huantar – Huaraz
Today, we will explore the depths of Chavin de Huantar, the underground citadel that belonged to the pre-Inca Chavin culture (2000 BC). This site hides a huge number of tunnels, with galleries and anthropomorphic figures. Then we will return to Huaraz to travel by night to the city of Trujillo.
Peru Dia 10 Trujillo – Chan chan
In the morning we will arrive in Trujillo and check in to a hotel of your choice. We will have the early afternoon free for rest and relaxation to prepare for our later visit to the ruins of Chan Chan. This was a city built completely with mud and adobe bricks; time and rain have somewhat blurred the walls, but Chan Chan still impresses with its sheer size, having been the largest city in pre-Colombian America. Afterwards, we will visit Huanchaco beach, famous for its excellent surfing and sandy beaches.
Peru Day 11: Trujillo
After breakfast, we will visit the Casinelli museum to see the ceramic collections of the Chavin, Mochica and Chimu cultures. Later, we will tour the Huacas (sacred sites) of Sun and Moon, Esmeralda, Arco temples. The Temple of the Moon is especially noteworthy, with its stunning multitier murals and depictions of the Moche Decapitator God. Afterwards, we will take private transportation to the city of Chiclayo and your hotel there.
Peru Day 12 Sipan Lord & Brunning Museum
Today we will visit the tomb of the Lord of Sipan, one of the most important Peruvian archaeological finds in the twentieth century. The lord’s remains were found with gold, silver and copper artifacts that date from 350AD. Finishing the day, we will have a guided visit to the Brüning Museum, which holds the remains of the Lord of Sipan and many of the artifacts discovered with them.
Peru Day 13: Trujillo – Lima
Return flight to Lima, free day and farewell dinner.
Peru Day 14: Lima
Transfer to airport for you to catch your return flight home.
