This walk connects Vilcabamba (the last Inca refuge) with Machu Picchu and along the walk you will visit the archaeological remains of Vilcabamba and surroundings where you can better understand the Inca and Pre-Inca culture.

Day 1: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Abra Malaga – Santa Maria – Huancacalle – Camp Copesco

We will pick you up very early in the morning, 3:00 am and we will start a tour in our private transport for about 6 hours until we reach the town of Huanca Calle. On the way we will pass through the Sacred Valley and we will do a small stop in the pass Malaga at 4316m 14160ft.

We continue with the descent to the valley of the Lucumayo until the town of Santa Maria to 1200m, 3936ft. We will take a delicious breakfast and then we will continue driving for two hours more to the town of Huancacalle 3350m 10988ft. In this place we will meet with our muleteers and horses and we will prepare everything to begin the trek.

We will visit the archeological remains of Vilcabamba, Vitcos and the waca (energetic place) of Ñustahispana and after this visit we will begin our walk until the camp of Collpa, at 3900m, 12792ft.


Día 2: Collpa – Samarina – Choquetacarpo Pass – Qelcamachay

This second day early in the morning, 6:00 am, after an energetic breakfast we will begin our walk, on 90% of Original Inca Trail and very well conserved from the 3900m 12792ft until the 4600m 15088ft that is the passage Choquetacarpo. On this point we will have a spectacular view of the snowy mountains and we will begin to descend to the place of lunch. We continue for 3 more hours to our camp Lazunapampa 3940m, 1923ft.

Day 3: Quelcamachay – Llutupampa – Yanama – Beach – Santa Teresa

After a delicious breakfast we will begin our 6:00 am walk. This day of the walk the landscape of Puna changes by a forest landscape the walk along the walk will see different snowy mountains, waterfalls and in its maximum explendor the Vilcabamba mountain.

Arriving at Yanama we will be able to see different types of birds especially parrots, reaching Yanama 3850m 12628ft. We will take our lunch, after we will take our transport with direction to the town of Santa Teresa 1600m, 5248ft. For about 2 hours, we arrive at the camp and then visit the thermal baths of Qocalmayo to relax.

Day 4: Santa Teresa – Hydroelectric – Aguas Calientes

After breakfast at 7:00 am, the trek begins approximately 2 hours to the hydroelectric where is our place of the lunch, after lunch we will continue the walk to the town of Aguas Calientes where we will take a dinner and spend night.

Day 5: Aguas Calientes- Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo – Cusco

At 4:30 am we will start walking to the archaeological remains of Machu Picchu. We will have the guided tour for about 2 hours and then free time to explore on your own. Machu Picchu is closing at 16:30 pm, return to Ollantaytambo by train and then In van to your hotel in Cusco.
